Job Title: Source to Tap Peat and Forestry Pilots Manager Contract Type: Fixed Term for 12 months with possible extension Salary: £29,073-£35,534 *candidates will normally start on the first point of the scale Cosing Date: 10am, Monday 21st January 2019

About the Role

To manage the effective delivery of the forestry and peat pilot in the Source to Tap INTERREG VA project.

Key Activities / Duties & Responsibilities

Forestry Pilot

  • Project manage the contractor installing the mitigation measures in the forestry pilot.
  • Liaising with Forest Service NI, and Coiltte and their felling contractors on the installation of the mitigation measures.
  • Manage stakeholders (contractors, NGO’s) associated with the forestry and peat workpackages in the Source to Tap project and comply with INTERREG VA reporting requirements.
  • Ensuring compliance with Forest Service NI and Coillte health and safety requirements, environmental licenses, environmental designations etc.
  • Working with Ulster University PhD student on the monitoring of the mitigation measures.
  • Writing up the forestry and peat elements of the SCAMP plan in liaison with the Ulster University PhD student.
  • Ensure that all activity meets both internal company standards and external regulatory requirement with respect to Health, Safety etc., to ensure the company’s obligations and policies in these areas are fully complied with.

 Peat Pilot

  • Undertake a literature review of best practice for peatbog restoration in formerly afforested land in relation to drinking water catchments.
  • Identification of dam locations for blocking of the drains in consultation with contractors.
  • Project manage the contractor in the installation of the dam to ensure the dams are placed in the required locations.
  • Liaison with Forest Service NI on the installation of the dams and the work of the contractor on their sites.
  • Ensuring compliance with Forest Service NI and Coillte health and safety requirements, environmental licenses, environmental designations etc.
  • Working with Ulster University PhD student on the monitoring of the mitigation measures.
  • Writing up the peat elements of the SCAMP Plan and making recommendations for future practice in liaison with the Ulster University PhD student.
  • Ensure that all activity meets both internal company standards and external regulatory requirement with respect to Health, Safety etc., to ensure the company’s obligations and policies in these areas are fully complied with.

 The appointment to this role is subject to funding approval for the post. A project supported by the European Union’s INTERREG VA Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB)
