Oxfam now recruiting a full-time, temporary Shop Manager for our charity book shop in Belfast

Contract: 6 months fixed term contract  

Hours: 40 per week  

Reference no: SMBB/19

Closing date: Tuesday 5th February 2019 at 12.00 noon


The Role

Oxfam Ireland is looking for a Shop Manager based in our Belfast book shop who wants to do good, work with volunteers and make their shop part of the local community.

The successful candidate will be responsible for recruiting, training and supervising a team of volunteers. The Shop Manager will manage budgets while maintaining statistical and financial records. The Shop Manager will be responsible for dealing with customer queries and complaints as well as overseeing product pricing and stock sourcing through donations while maximising profitability and setting/meeting sales targets, including motivating volunteers to do so. The Shop Manager will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation, preparing promotional materials and displays and liaising with Head Office.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Demonstrable experience of retail management to include budget and sales analysis, product knowledge and awareness of market trends, merchandising
  • Experience of staff management and motivating teams in order to achieve sales
