Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Department: Manufacturing Engineering – Upstream

Location: Craigavon

Vacancy: A Vacancy has arisen within our Manufacturing Engineering Department, for a Manufacturing Engineer, reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Superintendent – Upstream.

Hyster-Yale Craigavon manufactures 1-5.5T Counterbalance forklift trucks for the Internal Combustion Engine and Electric Rider markets.  The Manufacturing Engineering team take ownership of all the Manufacturing processes within the site.  Our goal is to implement robust, repeatable, safe processes that utilise lean manufacturing and new technologies to meet our production requirements.

Our responsibilities include implementing design changes through the adjustment of manufacturing processes, driving continuous improvement and supporting production when faced with process challenges.

We are looking for a dynamic, proactive individual who is willing to use their engineering knowledge to enhance our team.  They will be innovative, demonstrate presence, engage others and drive for results. In return, we will seek to expand their knowledge through in-depth training courses and practical experience, which will enable them to become highly skilled engineers in the manufacturing industry.

Key Accountabilities:     The successful candidate will be assigned to the Manufacturing Engineering team. Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Design, implementation and continuous improvement of Robotic and Manual welding processes within the Craigavon Plant
  • Programming and set-up of Robotic welding systems
  • Support new product introductions and implementation of capital equipment
  • Design of work station layouts for new products
  • Development of process costing data and operator work instructions
  • Implementation of health and safety, quality and productivity improvements
  • Provision of engineering support to production departments
  • Implementation of engineering changes onto the production lines within given timescales
  • This position may require shift working.  Applicants must be available to work shifts.


Essential criteria:

  • HND/Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline with a minimum of 1 year’s relevant Engineering experience in a Manufacturing environment
  • Alternatively, we will consider candidates who are actively working towards an HNC in an Engineering discipline with a minimum of 3 years’ relevant Engineering experience in a Manufacturing environment
  • Experience in welding
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Good working knowledge of all relevant Microsoft Office packages (Word, Powerpoint, Excel)

Desirable criteria:

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Proficient in the use of 2D CAD
  • Experience in any of the following:  Programming and setting of robotic weld systems. Manual welding processes. Setting up new weld processes including area layouts.

Salary:  £25,000 – £30,000
