Health and Safety Officer / PQQ Bid Writer

Job description

  • Advise management and staff on HSE matters;
  • Ensure company Health & Safety policies are implemented and complied with;
  • Carry out formal safety inspections throughout the company sites;
  • Review and sign off sub-contractors RAMS and Insurances;
  • Ensure records are maintained of statutory inspections for all activities and plant equipment;
  • Investigate any accidents and incidents;
  • Deliver and complete statutory notifications to HSE;
  • Produce risk assessments and method statements;
  • Review relevant company and subcontractors’ H&S documentation;
  • Advise on legislation updates through written memos for management and operatives;
  • Organise and conduct employee training course’s;
  • maintenance of quality accreditation; and 3rd party H&S accreditations
  • Compile and update site emergency plans.
  • Retrieve PQQ / tender documentation from portals as identified, or as directed by the pre-construction manager
  • Undertake and complete PQQ submissions and technical / compliance information to accompany tender bids and responses to expressions of interest
  • Complete submissions required to pre-set deadlines and/or as required by the pre-construction manager
  • Liaise with the awarding authorities regarding any clarifications or amendments to PQQ notices required
  • Ensure all bids are accurately completed and represent the company experience and abilities in the best possible way to secure the tender opportunity from the PQQ submission and/or contract when tendering
  • Ensure all submissions are uploaded (if applicable), printed, packaged and delivered in the format and media type required and within the deadlines established
  • Gather and develop information relating to specific tenders, relative projects and long term opportunities

To be considered for this H&S Officer role you should have:

  • ISOH and/or NEBOSH qualification or equivalent;
  • Minimum 4-5 years’ experience of working as a Health & Safety officer within the construction industry
  • Strong Communication and people skills;
  • A track record of ensuring health and safety at work.
  • 1+ years’ experience in tender writing and PQQ coordination within a construction company
  • Degree qualified within a construction related sector
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent project record in writing bids that win
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of staff and stakeholders
  • Must be willing to attend tender meetings in NI and the UK
  • Experience within main contracting would be of benefit
  • Ability to manage numerous bids at once
