Excellent opportunity for a Machine Shop Leader based in Portadown



Joining you will become a member of the McMullen Facades Production department working alongside side our Machine Shop and Fabrication team.


You will be responsible for ensuring that your team complete their work safely and on time at the required quality standard.  You will also need to ensure your team is equipped with the correct information and materials to carry out their work. You will work hands on with your fellow team members and be a key point of contact for issues or ideas.


The post holder will:

1.Plan machine workload in line with production requirements.

2.Train team members on best practice within the machine shop

3.Ensuring production targets are met through effective utilisation of each team member.

4.Support machine shop through direct operation of machines.

5.Maintaining effective communication of the supervisor’s instructions and directions to all team members. Monitoring & communication of team progress on all contracts being worked on to the supervisor

6.Ensuring no quality escapes, assisting the supervisor by resolving technical issues and other difficulties, reporting all concerns and issues back to the supervisor.

7.Ensuring team members are equipped with the right information and material that are required for completion of their duties during the course of the shift.

8.Participating in formal and informal activities to identify and implement improvements in working methods and factory layout to increase productivity within the factory.

9.Ensuring self and team work to the Health & Safety requirements at all times – develop and maintain a team culture where wearing of PPE is automatic.

10.Maintaining a consistent high standard of Health & Safety and report any incidents or ‘near misses to supervisor, encourage preventative activity.

11.Ensuring work areas are kept clean and tidy at all times and machines and tools are kept in good working order reporting any issues to the supervisor.

12.Ensuring that the team work together and maintain a harmonious working environment, using informal procedures as appropriate to resolve issues and reporting all occurrences to the supervisor.

13.All other duties as may be reasonably required commensurate with jobholder’s level in the Company. 

Other responsibilities

  • Work within the frameworks laid down by the ISO 9001 and ISO14001 systems. Be aware of and adhere to quality documents, advise quality manager of amendments required.
  • Ensure Health & Safety standards are maintained as specified by the Health and Safety Consultant and Internal Coordinator and the Health & Safety at Work (NI Order) 1978
  • Work as part of a team and maintain a harmonious working environment. Be aware of and adhere to requirements of the company culture – vision and values in all people, interactions and morale both inside and outside the company.
