Claims Handler – Belfast

9 months Fixed Term Contract


Applications are invited for the position of Claims Handler on a 9 month fixed term contract  in the Claims department within the Riverside Tower location Belfast (Vacancy Ref: AXANI003/2019).

About the Role

The Claims handler will be expected to handle and settle cases in a timely, cost effective and customer focused manner.

Incident and Case Management:

  • Conducts desk-based  incident and case management (notification, triage, investigation, fulfilment, negotiation, liability and settlement, payment, subrogation and salvage) within predefined authority limits and to predefined processes, procedures and escalation points

  • Contain claim costs by implementing agreed processes and deploying all resources effectively (system and technical resources, other teams, liaising with Third Party Service providers, customers, solicitors)

  • Deliver consistency in estimating, minimize leakage and fraud

  • Deliver excellent customer service

  • Deal effectively with referrals, escalations and complaints where appropriate

  • Participate in initiatives to deliver continuous improvement

Quality Assurance

  • Conduct effective Quality Assurance program activities to validate the quality of claims handling to deliver consistent claim estimating, minimising leakage and fraud, and adherence to defined processes.

  • Participate effectively in team reviews

  • Work closely with underwriters and the SBU’s to assist in improving the performance of our business

Performance management

  • Full ownership and accountability of the claims you are involved in managing

  • Deliver agreed personal, team and business/company objectives,  actively manage your own performance

  • Deliver agreed targets for customer service, settlement rate and recovery levels

  • Manage your own time and resources effectively

  • Be flexible within the role to undertake other duties as assigned by your Team Leader and participate in any designated projects (including cross-functional).

  • 5 GSCE’s Essential
