Excellent opportunity for Application Packer based in Belfast.

About us: Novosco was formed in 2007 from a merger with two leading ICT companies in Northern Ireland, Real Time Systems and 4sol Ltd with the Novosco brand name derived from two Latin Words, meaning ‘new understandings’. We have acquired other businesses since then, and are now the market leader in Ireland for Cloud services with a growing presence in the UK. We currently employ around 200 staff in total at the moment, with ambitious growth plans due to ongoing expansion in our market.

Main purpose of the job: Using the latest packaging technology to build and maintain application packages for deployment to end user compute and desktop devices.

Main Duties and Responsibilities: Essential duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Packaging all applications identified by the Managed Service team.
  • Packaging using Flexera Admin Studio, Microsoft Application Sequencer 5.x & Application Layering technologies.
  • Produce high quality release documentation.
  • Remediating defects, diagnosing and resolve problems relating to Application Packages.
  • Basic testing of applications after packaging before handing over to Testing team.
  • Work effectively to deadlines in line with SLA’s and working with Test Manager on prioritisation.

Experience and skills:

Experience (essential):

  • 5 Years of experience in application repackaging and virtualization.
  • Experience of applications packaging on large scale projects.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems.
  • Knowledge of application packaging technologies including MSI, APP-V, Application Layering   and EXE silent installers.
  • Operational knowledge of SCCM/In-Tune, AppSense (now Ivanti), Citrix Environment (XenApp/XenDesktop and XenMobile).
  • Experience in the use of Flexera AdminStudio suite of applications.
  • Knowledge of scripting technologies including VBScript and PowerShell.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Application Virtualization Sequencer specifically version 5.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and can do in-depth troubleshooting of application issues (MSI technology, read and understand installation logfiles etc)

Experience (desirable):

  • Experience of HP Client Automation packaging processes
  • Experience of XenMobile MDX app wrapping for mobile platforms (IOS & Android)
  • Working knowledge of the Application Management Lifecycle processes.

  • Attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Confident approach to learning technical products and terminology
  • Strong customer facing skills dealing with various nationalities

Additional Information:


Internal training on products and services will be provided. However, staff are expected to consistently keep abreast of new developments, which would impact on their areas of responsibility. Conditions of Employment: Salary: The salary and benefits for this position will be determined according to the experience of the person appointed. General Guidance: The nominal working week is 37.5 hours, although a degree of flexibility is both offered and expected. In specific circumstances there may be a requirement to work additional hours.
