What we’re looking for

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team which is dedicated to supporting our client, a leading financial services organisation, in the negotiation of a range of documents including ISDA, GMRA, GMSLA, Prime Brokerage, Listed, Clearing and other such documents that may arise. The successful candidate will be expected to analyse and resolve any issues arising during the course of negotiations, operating in a time-pressured environment, to progress a portfolio of live matters.

The Role

Responsibilities of the Senior Associate will vary but may include:

  • Drafting and negotiation of a range of industry standard documents including ISDA, GMRA, GMSLA, Prime Brokerage and other such documents that may arise
  • Skilled analysis and resolution of points arising in the course of negotiations
  • Act as an initial technical escalation point for more junior negotiators
  • Operate professionally and proactively, under pressure, to progress a portfolio of live negotiations
  • Build productive relationships with key stakeholders and clients
  • Follow standard operating procedures for appropriate compliance with approvals process and controls requirements more generally

Successful Candidates

Essential criteria:

  • Undergraduate Law degree and/ or legally qualified
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience of analysing, drafting, negotiating and advising on derivatives documentation within a law firm, as part of an in-house legal team or within Axiom
  • Client-facing experience of a financial services client-base
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Comfortable using the Microsoft Office suite, particularly MS Word and Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail skillset
  • Outstanding communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Strong team player
  • Legally eligible to work in the United Kingdom

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience in an in-house environment
  • Coaching and mentoring more junior team members
