The post holder will work as part of a team within the Learning Disability PBS Supported Living Service in The Mews



The Cedar Foundation is seeking to recruit the following staff members:


Positive Behaviour Practitioner                                                 REF: 18/183/PBP-TM/WEB


The post holder will work as part of a team within the Learning Disability PBS Supported Living Service in The Mews, West Belfast. The post holder will work as a behavioural practitioner and with members of the BHSCT MDT to provide specialist assessment and intervention for adults with a Learning Disability who also display challenging behaviour and or mental health difficulties and who are in need of timely intervention and support on a daily basis.


The post holder will provide day to day specialist support and guidance for the team in ensuring the PBS model of support is delivered to service users to meet their needs guided by the Positive Behaviour Lead


Hours:                                  37.5 hours per week. The post holder will be required to work flexible hours to            meet the needs of the service and be part of the on-call system.

Salary:                                 £28,462 per annum, pro rata

Location:                             The Mews PBS Service, West Belfast


Essential Criteria:

  • Degree level qualification in a relevant Health and Social Care/Education area (e.g. Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, and Allied Health Profession) with live registration (or equivalent) with their respective professional body if appropriate.


  • A minimum of 1 years post-qualifying experience working with adults who present with challenging behaviour, one year of which must be with adults who have a learning disability


  • Experience in autonomously assessing, designing and implementing behavioural interventions.
  • Experience of working as a member of a multidisciplinary team


  • Experience working with families


  • Able to fulfil the occupational health requirements to meet the role of MAPA Trainer


  • An interest in working with adults with a learning disability and families


  • Able to be flexible and adapt approach according to need and to innovate on the basis of theoretical knowledge


  • Flexibility to work evening hours when required and be part of an on-call system.


  • Hold a current full Driving Licence valid in the UK with access to a car. 



This criteria will be waived in the case of an applicant whose disability prohibits driving but who is able to organise suitable alternative arrangements



Desirable Criteria:

  • Have completed MAPA to Advanced Level that is current.
  • Experience of working within a learning disability and or mental health community setting
  • Post graduate training in behaviour management
