Function Overview:

SONi is an IT intensive business which manages large amounts of commercially sensitive data in relation to the power system and wholesale electricity market operation. Information requirements are raised from within the company and by external clients.

Information Services (IS) are responsible for a large range of corporate and operational systems/applications across the EirGrid Group. The IT systems/applications are deployed over four sites in the Dublin and Belfast area. All sites must be maintained in an operational state on a 24*7 basis.

Reporting Relationship:

Reporting to the IS Corporate Applications Manager.

Job Purpose:

The role holder contributes to the overall success of SONi by working on their own initiative and as part of a team, to support EirGrid Group IS systemsapplications. The Application Support Analyst is required to support the IS Corporate Applications team in the support of key IS applicationssystems. The Role holder has the following attributes:

-A good understanding of application support within a complex integrated systems environment;
-The ability to provide support and maintenance services for a range of existing and new applications & systems across the EirGrid Group.

Main Responsibilities:
-To provide second and third line support of a wide range of applications across the EirGrid Group, including deployment, support and maintenance where required;
-Liaise with and manage support from external 3rd party suppliers and contractors, including participation in review meetings, contract reviews and SLA tracking and reporting;
-Call logging, prioritisation and tracking numerous issues of varying severity and effectively managing the resolution of all 3rd party supplied and in-house developed applications;
-Report on Group IS application support calls;
-Scheduling and co-ordinating system upgrades for both internally and externally provided systems in accordance with the Group Technology Roadmap;
-Assist in testing new applications and application changes;
-Meeting with users throughout the Group to determine requirements and discuss issues.
-Assist in requirements gathering and the delivery of Change Requests.
-Assist in the preparation of specification documents, business requirements, impact assessments, project plans and tender evaluations.
-Assist in the implementation of IT projects ranging from small ‘in-house’ systems to large outsourced contracts, providing system knowledge and process understanding.
-Assist in the maintenance and testing of disaster recovery and business continuity.
-Training users.

Location: Belfast

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Essential
-Third Level Qualification in a Computer Science or IT related subject.
-Previous support role experience in a customer facing role.
-Excellent decision making skills and an ability to prioritise tasks.
-Demonstrated ability in documenting systems including writing technical specifications and design documents.
-Strong technical and analytical skills.
-Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
-A proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Desirable
-Experience of delivering support to systems within a regulated environment preferably the utilities sector.
-Working knowledge of change management.
-Working knowledge of SQL.
-Previous experience working with and supporting business critical systems.
-Demonstrated ability in documenting systems including writing technical specifications and design documents.
