Special Investigation Unit (SIU) Investigator

About the role

Reporting to the Team Leader, the successful candidate will be required to work as part of an experienced SIU team to deter and detect fraud.  You will conduct fraud investigations in a timely, cost effective and customer focused manner ensuring compliance with relevant legislative requirements in your jurisdiction. 

  • Review Red Flag Referrals from AXA investigators, suppliers, solicitors and claims handlers and act as a front line investigation resource on these referrals
  • Personally make decisions on the potential fraudulent nature of claims, being sure to validate claims as necessary and defend where commercially appropriate.
  • Proactively investigate potential fraud in claims using some predefined processes and procedures but at times using your own initiative,
  • Conduct investigations using; incident investigations, locus review and open source research.  You will interview witnesses and claimants at all stages of the investigation. 
  • Manage complicated fraud cases, with numbers of claimants and relationships.
  • Provide practical advice and guidance to claims handlers, solicitors etc. on fraud and red flags. This may include training sessions.
  • Maintain SIU case management system and relevant spreadsheets fully utilising the software & training

  • Deal with customers sensitively and professionally.  Deal effectively with dispute resolution, referrals, escalations and complaints where appropriate

  • Ensure Regulatory compliance whilst processing claims

  • Provide reports and updates as required.

  • Undertake department and cross functional projects as necessary

 

 About the Person

  • Expert knowledge of U/W principles, technical claims handling procedures, SIU investigation procedures and a passion for fraud investigation
  • Investigators are required to keep abreast of legal developments and judgments.

  • Claim regulations, compliance and legislation

  • Overall compliance to Health & Safety and IT Security

  • Consumer protection code / Data Protection Act and AXA Global Security guidelines

  • Ability to manage sensitive, complex and large claims

  • Good PC and system skills

  • Inquisitive and enquiring mind set

  • Consistently deliver agreed objectives including Fraud targets

  • A structured approach to work with a keen attention to detail

  • Strong decision-making, influencing skills and communication skills

  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work

  • 3+ years’ experience of Personal Injury claims handling

  • CIP / 3rd level business and/or legal qualification beneficial
