School of Biological Sciences

The Institute for Global Food Security sits within the School of Biological Sciences at Queen’s.  The Institute is leading the world in addressing one of the greatest global challenges – how to ensure the safety of our food. 

Our researchers track and prevent contamination of crops, animal feeds and foods. They help detect fraud along the supply chain and develop advanced food provenance systems, help to improve the quality of crops and the health of farm animals and their resistance to disease.

The successful candidate will report to the Business Development Manager EIT Food, and will be responsible for all activities relating to the day-to-day management of projects within an EU H2020 programme; EIT Food. The Programme Manager will communicate with all key stakeholders to deliver EIT Food projects, as well as monitoring and communicating with researchers and consortium partners. Direction of budget management; progress monitoring against set deliverables, coordination of meetings, workshops; preparation and submission of periodic progress and financial reports to the EIT Food are key elements of the post. 

The successful candidate have: 

  • Honours Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area
  • At least 3 years recent relevant project or programme management experience
  • Experience of working within a research environment.
  • Experience of building and managing relationships in a collaborative context with a range of internal/external stakeholders.

Salary scale: £33,199 – £39,610 per annum (potential to progress to £43,266 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution)
