Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer (Material Supply)


Department: New Product Introduction

Location: Craigavon

Vacancy: A vacancy has arisen within our NPI Department for a Manufacturing Engineer who will focus on Material Supply processes whilst reporting to the Senior NPI Engineer.

Hyster-Yale Craigavon manufactures 1-5.5T Counterbalance forklift trucks for the Internal Combustion Engine and Electric Rider markets.  The Manufacturing Engineering team take ownership of all the Manufacturing processes within the site.  Our goal is to implement robust, repeatable, safe processes that utilise lean manufacturing and new technologies to meet our production requirements.

Our responsibilities include implementing design changes through the adjustment of manufacturing processes, driving continuous improvement and supporting production when faced with process challenges.

We are looking for a dynamic, proactive individual who is willing to use their engineering knowledge to enhance our team.  They will be innovative, demonstrate presence, engage others and drive for results. In return, we will seek to expand their knowledge through in-depth training courses and practical experience, which will enable them to become highly skilled engineers in the manufacturing industry.

Key Accountabilities:     

The main responsibilities of this role are to:

  • Be Engineering Lead for the Global Material Handling Strategy (GMHS) for Craigavon
  • Develop potential Supermarket kitting process concept, plan and implement for 2020 Project
  • Design and implement Stores layouts that facilitate agreed method of material replenishment
  • Conduct feasibility and cost studies on automation and next level material handling solutions
  • Interface with new technologies, software and hardware to maximise part replenishment efficiency
  • Standardise material replenishment process, documenting as required to enable a transferable model to all current and future production.
  • Provide Manufacturing Engineering support to Manufacturing Engineering/NPI teams in relation to Production and Project support when required.


Essential criteria:

  • HND/Degree in a relevant Engineering/Science discipline with a minimum of 1 year’s relevant experience in a Manufacturing/Materials environment.
  • Alternatively, we will consider candidates who hold an HNC in an Engineering/Science discipline with a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in a Manufacturing/Materials environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Good working knowledge of all relevant Microsoft Office packages (Word, Powerpoint, Excel)

Desirable criteria:

  • Experience in any of the following would be advantageous: MRP, ERP, Material supply, Line Design.

Salary range:  £25,000 – £30,000
