Your new role…

The successful candidate will report to the Information Security Manager and will be responsible for supporting and contributing to the evolution of Information Security within Viridian Group. The successful candidate will be a highly customer focused individual and will act as our focal point for application security, providing advice and guidance to our Operational support teams, Programme/Project teams, Developers (in–house and third party) and our Managed Service provider to ensure that IT projects and changes are delivered securely, protecting both client and employee data.

The role will provide support against Information Security strategic initiatives/programmes, helping to ensure the company is compliant with regulated and non-regulated standards and processes.

This is a key role and the successful candidate will possess a strong background in Information Security. The successful candidate will provide a combination of technical depth with outstanding interpersonal skills and be highly confident in engaging and influencing at all levels whilst driving for results. Selling upwards and peer selling are vital characteristics to this role.

Main Duties:

  • Reviewing security designs for application and infrastructure projects
  • Providing advice and guidance on security design best practice to other members of Viridian Group
  • Promote Information Security best practice in an evangelist manner to all members of Viridian Group
  • Carrying out vulnerability management for Viridian’s network / technology landscape – reviewing the results of vulnerability scans, prioritising the vulnerabilities found and ensuring that high priority vulnerabilities are closed
  • Coordinating Viridian’s Penetration programme via our 3rd Party Security consultants
  • Undertaking the investigation of security incidents and potential security incidents
  • Conduct daily, monthly and annual reviews of user access on corporate system resources
  • Identifying and implementing improvements to security processes and to the overall security of Viridian’s network, systems and applications
  • Carrying out Information Security BAU operational tasks and resolving Information Security related issues over the phone, email or via face-to-face interaction
  • Membership of Viridian’s IT Security Forum

The post will be offered on a Permanent Personal Contract basis and will include an attractive benefits package, including a salary to reflect the skills and experience of the successful candidate.  The post will be based in our offices at Newforge Lane, with occasional travel to Dublin required.

PERSONNEL SPECIFICATION

Knowledge and Experience:      

Essential

  • Solid experience in performing IT Security solution design reviews and providing best practice advice to all levels.
  • A strong understanding of application and infrastructure security.
  • Software development experience in one or more of the following C#, C++, VBA or Java.
  • Experience of configuring one or more web application servers e.g. IIS, Apache/Tomcat, Weblogic.
  • Strong knowledge of identity and access control e.g. Active Directory.
  • Detailed knowledge of secure software development principles e.g. OWASP Top 10 or SANS Top 25.
  • Understanding of network and server security best practices and security trends, including patching strategies, firewall operations, web/email filtering, VPNs, Anti-Virus and end point protection.
  • Knowledge of Information Security exploits and threats.

Desirable

  • Experience of working as a Windows administrator
  • Solid experience in IT Security Incident Management
  • An understanding of Unix and Linux security
  • Demonstrates knowledge of tools and methodologies involved in the delivery of good security practices, including risk management, business analysis and containment of events that may lead to the disruption of IT services.
  • Experience of securing cloud-based infrastructure, applications and online services
  • Experience of implementing or supporting web application firewalls
  • A security-related qualification
