We communicate locally and internationally with prospective undergraduate and postgraduate students and those who influence them, the global academic community, funding institutions, the media and policy makers.  Our work attracts and welcomes students, staff and researchers, raises the University’s profile and reputation and generates support and funding for Queen’s.

The unit is responsible for internal, external and corporate communications; media affairs; brand, marketing and advertising; website, social media and digital activities; market research and insight; publications (including the university prospectuses), design and video.

The team is made up of three divisions:

  • Communications
  • Strategic Marketing and Campaigns
  • Digital and Content

We deliver a full service in-house marketing and communications service, develop and protect the Queen’s brand, manage all communications channels, plan and produce marketing campaigns, manage paid media campaigns, manage media relations and corporate communications.

The successful candidate will lead on the design, development and implementation of an integrated marketing and communications strategy to ensure delivery of Institutional goals. They will provide leadership, strategic direction and management to the University’s Strategic Marketing and Communications team (approximately 40 members of staff) and to Academic Faculties.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Honours degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant business related subject.
  • At least five years’ relevant marketing and communications experience at a senior level.
  • A proven track record in the development of marketing communications strategies which have led to successful business development outcomes.
  • Relevant experience of management of press, public relations and internal communications.
  • Experience of leading change management and designing, developing, implementing and managing systems and processes to deal with complex situations.
  • Experience of managing teams of senior level professional staff.
  • Substantial experience of budgetary control and financial planning.
  • Oversight of the development of effective brand and creative marketing services capable of the delivery of tangible outcomes.
  • Experience dealing at a senior advisory and strategic level both internally and with relevant external organisations and of successfully negotiating and influencing at a senior level.
  • Digital marketing expertise.

Anticipated interview date: Tuesday 4 December 2018

Salary scale: £51,630 – £59,828 per annum (potential to progress to £65,361 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution)
