Introduction to Bryson LaganSports

Bryson LaganSports an Adventure Activity Centre, is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Northern Ireland’s leading social enterprise, Bryson Charitable Group. Located in East Belfast, it has been operational since 1999 and offers innovative outdoor learning experiences using both water and land based activities. It delivers events and activities across Northern Ireland and more recently the Republic of Ireland.

Job Purpose

The Events and Activity Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the operational management of the activity centre, including all event and activity programmes delivered by Bryson LaganSports. They will provide overall supervision of all activities ensuring instructional staff are appropriately experienced and qualified to meet industry and legislative standards.

Essential Criteria:

  • A qualified instructor for a range of outdoor activities consistent with the activities currently on offer by the organisation.
  • Have detailed knowledge of relevant health and safety standards and accreditations for an outdoor activity centre along with a willingness to obtain any necessary qualifications.
  • A proven track record in the management of outdoor activities.
  • 2 years’ experience delivering and leading activity sessions to a high standard.
  • 1 year previous line management/supervisory experience.
  • 2 years’ experience delivering a broad range of water based and land activities.
  • 2 years’ experience successfully working with a wide spectrum of groups.
  • 2 years’ experience developing activity programmes/products.
  • Experienced in the provision of DofE Award training and expeditions in either Hill Walking or Canoeing.
  • Have a flexible and positive approach with an understanding of the expectations of the role of Events & Activity Centre Manager within the context of a 7 day week business.
  • Have a keen commercial focus and can demonstrate the ability to maximise the revenue potential of the organisation.

I.T Literate.

Hold a full driving licence.

Access to transport for work purposes as and when required.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experienced in the management of DofE Open Award programmes.
