An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Retail Manager to join Southern Area Hospice Retail team and to manage our charity shops in the Southern Trust Area.
The Commercial Retail Manager will play a key part in the strategic plans for the Hospice and in developing the commercial aspect of the business for the retail team within Income Generation.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years retail management experience within a high street or charity retail environment along with a strong knowledge of fashion. Candidates must be highly organised with strong business acumen with the ability to manage and develop a positive and productive team. This role will effectively lead, motivate and develop a team of shop staff and volunteers to ensure that the shops are successful and developed to their full potential. You will be responsible for managing and driving the profitability of the Hospice shops and producing new income streams. This role will require you to Improve shop standards as well as maximising income to ensure targets are achieved. Applicants must have strong experience in use of Microsoft Office and Social Media.
We are looking for someone who wants to use their retail management skills, passion and drive, knowing that their contribution will be making a real difference to individuals and families facing a life-limiting illness.
The role would suit someone who is self-motivated with excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills. You will need to be passionate about fashion and retail, have proven success of multi-site management or managing a large retail store. You will need to be able to demonstrate working to budgets and operational targets. You must be flexible to work evenings and weekends. A full clean driving licence or an ability to meet the driving requirements of the post. CV’s will not be accepted.
The key responsibilities of the Commercial Retail Manager are to;
Develop and execute an annual retail business strategy which will feed into the overall SAHS Income Generation Strategy in conjunction with the Head of Income Generation.
Demonstrate strong leadership and management of the retail team and volunteers.
Within a profit centre framework, maximise income of the shops, tightly manage expenditure and ensure that annually agreed financial and non-financial key performance indicators are met.
Develop and maximise Retail Gift Aid opportunities throughout all retail outlets in compliance with legislative guidelines and best practice.
Ensure all shops are adequately stocked by liaising with the Shop Supervisors regarding the logistics of same.
Develop the ecommerce income stream including eBay and online shopping.
Use the ‘pop up’ shop model to produce commercial income avenues.
Explore the opportunities for supply and sale of new/bought in goods.
Facilitate fundraising events in the shops.
Work alongside new and existing connections to maximise support and to build relationships.
Produce timely and accurate monthly reports to the Head of Income Generation.
Ensure all shops operate within SAHS trading standards and agreed guidelines.
