Gavan McGill & Company, a successful firm of Chartered Certified Accountants based in Derry, Northern Ireland are seeking a qualified or highly experienced part qualified Accountant with practice experience.

This is a varied role for someone looking to build their skills and develop their career.

The firm has a wide portfolio of clients and provides a range of services. The successful candidate will be required to oversee a portfolio of clients providing accounting, taxation and business advisory services. Experience of a variety of software packages, particularly Sage, is essential.

The successful applicant must be motivated with a desire to achieve and succeed. You should have excellent people skills and be able to prioritise and work to budgets.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Managing a portfolio of varied clients
  • Preparation of accounts for sole traders, partnerships and companies.
  • Preparation of Management accounts.
  • Advising clients on Tax Planning and calculating Tax Liabilities.
  • Liaising with HM Revenue & Customs on behalf of clients.
  • Completing and filing Self-Assessment Tax Returns and Company Returns to HMRC.
  • Companies House filings for UK and NI companies.
  • Republic of Ireland company filings with CRO.

Education / Qualifications:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA or equivalent)
  • Part qualified accountant (ACCA or equivalent) will also be considered with an opportunity for further training and education available.
  • Essential skills and experience:
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in an accountancy practice.
  • Experience of Sage Accounts Production, Sage Personal and Partnership Tax and Sage Corporation Tax together with cloud-based accountancy software.
  • Ability to work cohesively in small team environment.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Technically competent.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.

Job Type: Full-time

In return the successful candidate will receive a salary commensurate with experience along with a pension scheme.
