HAYWARD HAWK is happy to be working with an established international telecoms business for the recruitment of a Senior IP Operations Engineer to join the Dublin based team supporting the MPLS and ISP Core, with an emphasis on the Operations and Maintenance.

 The role:

  • You’ll be responsible for supporting Design, Testing and Validation, Implementation and Integration and Acceptance activity, providing leadership and guidance on resolving complex technical issues, owning operational processes and ensuring support is provided to meet service level standards.
  • You’ll provide data expertise on the expansion and upgrade of the Core IP platforms as well as investigating, proposing and implementing enhancements to improve the efficiency and performance of the backbone and site networks.
  • You’ll ensure a high level of security standards are maintained and operated across the network.
  • You’ll participate in the monitoring and investigation of any issues, ensuring more complex problems are followed up to a comprehensive resolution.
  • You’ll perform Network / System Troubleshooting as required and provide support on network related issues to NOC, IP Ops team and third parties.
  • Keep up to date with latest networking technologies and trends including virtualization technologies like SDN and NFV.
  • You’ll lead on technical projects – ad liaise with the design team on all new projects and be responsible for implementation.
  • Automate select network administration tasks through creation and maintenance of scripts and tools.

The person:

The ideal candidate will be degree level education or equivalent in Computer Science, Data Communications or Networking with advanced level scripting and automation knowledge and proven experience in designing, implementing and monitoring carrier and backbone networks.

Required experience:

  • You’ll have proven experience working in a network environment configuring, monitoring and troubleshooting Cisco routers, switches, firewalls and monitoring devices.
  • You’ll have CCIE/Nokia SRA or equivalent level of expertise on routers, switches and network design and technologies obtained in network and security related roles.
  • You’ll have an in-depth knowledge and proven application of advanced routing (OSPF, ISIS, BGP) in larger networks with high availability.
  • You’ll have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the working and operation of MBGP, MPLS VPNs, L3 VPN’s, VPLS, L2 tunnels over MPLS, Traffic Engineering, QOS and Inter AS VPN’s.
  • Solid knowledge of ancillary network protocols DNS, SNMP, Netconf/Yang, Openflow would be advantageous.
  • You’ll be competent in Routing and Switching protocols with knowledge in BGP and IGP protocols, MPLS, MPLS TE. Experience and knowledge in Transport Network (WDM / SDH) and Access Network (FTTx / xDSL)
