We’re excited to be recruiting for a Retail Supervisor on behalf of our long term client based in Belfast. The successful candidate to manage the day to day operation of the retail area to maximise retail turnover while reporting to the Store Manager. 

Contract: Permanent 

Hours: 37.5hours per week – rota basis – Sunday to Saturday [two evenings and one weekend shift required]

Salary: £8.15 per hour 

The ideal candidate will possess the required skills and experience of a sales driven and customer focused team leader, consistently delivering excellent customer service while motivating and inspiring the team to reach their full potential.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To ensure the delivery of excellent customer service at all times adhering to the standards of service delivery
  • To organise the staff rota to ensure staffing levels are appropriate to allow for the efficient operation of the shop at all times (including lunch and tea breaks). Overtime must be agreed with the Manager.
  • To assist in the supervision of staff as directed
  • To assist in the induction and training of new staff:
  • Ensure new start and leaver forms are completed and forwarded to the relevant personnel at Head Office.
  • Ensure excellent service is maintained through the ongoing monitoring of existing staff performance
  • To assess and prioritise daily tasks
  • To discuss and agree tasks with the Managerial team
  • To delegate tasks to staff in a clear and concise manner and to check they are carried out quickly and efficiently
  • To ensure staff presentation (uniform, name badges, appearance) is as per Company standards
  • To be a key holder (if required) – open/close premises when required
  • To ensure the accurate cashing up and recording of all tills
  • To organise monies for bank lodgments and till floats
  • To ensure the weekly cash sheet is completed and sent to Head Office in the internal mail
  • To ensure all head office emails relating to the shop retail area are printed read and, understood and acted upon by all relevant staff.
  • To be aware of local competitor pricing and activity and where these may have an adverse effect on the branches business, report it to the Manager and directly to the relevant head office personnel
  • To ensure that all customer complaints are properly addressed and that all reasonable steps are taken to resolve the complaint to the satisfaction of the customer. All customer complaints must be recorded. Where a complaint relates to the dispensary, it must be referred to the Manager.
  • To ensure a high standard of cleanliness exists throughout the branch.

Stock Control

  • Reviewing and placing of OTC orders to the warehouse, receiving orders into the shop, booking stock into EPOS, implementing price changes
  • To pursue and obtain a credit for any shortages / breakages etc.
  • To ensure that the EPOS and Stock Management systems are used as directed and staff trained and that any issues are reported promptly
  • To check department stocks against the monthly PLOF and ensure that all core listed products are in stock
  • To ensure that all dated stock is checked and rotated correctly

Merchandising

  • To ensure that merchandising standards are achieved especially filling and facing of shelves
  • To implement monthly promotions and ensure all staff are aware of and understand the offers and are aware of opportunities to link sell
  • To ensure all point of sale is correctly positioned and current including shelf talkers
  • Ensure the shop is appropriately stocked, attractively displayed to achieve sales goals and service standards
  • To undertake any other duties appropriate for the grade and responsibilities of the post that may from time to time be reasonably requested

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Criteria:

  • GCSE Maths and English – Grades A to C or equivalent 
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a busy, retail outlet environment 
  • IT Literate
  • Excellent Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is open and approachable and encourages others to communicate openly.
  • Demonstrable leadership skills
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask and work calmly and efficiently under pressure
  • Experience working well within a team and is committed to achieving team goals and targets. When under pressure
  • Delivers results and continuous improvement by using initiative and continually striving for improvement and innovation
  • Able to work outside core hours when required and leads the way when this is needed 
  • Smart Appearance 

Desirable Criteria: 

  • 3rd level qualification in the field of Health and Beauty
  • Previous experience in a Supervisory role in a retail pharmacy environment
