VANRATH are pleased to be recruiting a Linux System Engineer for a leading Financial Services company. Based in Belfast the large global company offers an exciting opportunity to join a fast paced environment and are looking for problem solvers and people who are looking to make a difference in the workplace.

The Role

The role is to help improve the design and support of the large Linux infrastructure. Due to the large environment the role is a challenging one and hard to grasp and so requires an individual with strong technical skills with great planning and execution capabilities.

The Linux Systems Engineer will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Managing the server environment i.e. patching, installation, configuration of third party software etc.
  • Troubleshooting hardware, spare part inventory management, ticket management and scheduling repairs.
  • Support the distributed computing architecture.
  • Configuration, testing, implementing and troubleshooting Unix systems.
  • Manages production environment changes to maintain a stable environment.

The Person

The ideal candidate must be able to display the following:.

  • 2+ years Systems admin with Linux/Unix.
  • Scripting experience (bash, Python etc)
  • Strong knowledge of OS and OS hardware interaction (firmware, kernels etc.)
  • Knowledge of Virtualised storage solution is desirable
  • Chef experience a plus
  • Experience with KVM,RHEV, Openstack and vCenter/vSphere 5.x would be desirable
