Information Services 

  • The post holder will assist in the operation of the library by providing students and staff with learning materials and information. They will ensure the security of the Library and all of its contents and collections.
  • The hours are based on a two week, Monday to Friday, shift pattern that includes evening work.
  • The post has a significant manual element and requires some lifting and carrying.
  • The post holder will be based in the McClay Library but, will be required to work shifts in other branches on an as needs basis.
  • Flexibility and willingness required to cover for other hours including the weekend.
  • The Library is based on several sites and staff must be willing to work in any of the sites.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Educated to secondary level.
  • A minimum of 6 months’ experience in a relevant post, (e.g. portering, security, warden), where portering and/or security duties are a significant part of the job.
  • A minimum of 6 months’ experience of working with the public in a customer-facing service orientated environment.

Salary scale: £16,146 – £17,079 per annum (potential to progress to £17,751 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution)
