IT Infrastructure Engineer

IT Infrastructure Engineer

As the IT Infrastructure Engineer you will be responsible in part for designing, building, deploying and maintaining the IT Infrastructure. The IT Infrastructure Engineer will be the point of escalation for high level technical queries from the helpdesk. As the appointed IT Infrastructure Engineer you will be self-driven and manage infrastructure projects.

Job Duties& Responsibilities

  • Assist the helpdesk team with escalated tickets relating to high level queries.
  • Continually develop and action a renewal and upgrade schedule for the IT Infrastructure.
  • Manage project work. This could include self-driven infrastructure projects or externally driven projects with IT elements.
  • Types of infrastructure work may involve making changes to existing kit or deploying new hardware/software and decommissioning old kit:
    • Switches and APs and Firewalls
    • Physical or virtual servers
    • Backup software and storage
    • Shared Storage
    • UPSs
    • ESX Hosts
    • Domain Controllers and member servers
    • AV Management
    • Network monitoring
    • Office 365

Essential Requirements

  • Must have implemented complex, timebound IT projects previously.
  • Must be proficient with the provisioning and support of:
    • network design, installation and configuration, including config of managed switches, routers and firewalls.
    • physical and virtual servers.
    • enterprise backup solutions.
    • Domain Controllers and member servers
    • Virtual environments.
  • Must have a working knowledge of corporate security systems, procedure and implementations
  • Have a flexible approach to working hours. Be prepared to take calls or work outside normal working hours.
  • Be capable of and be prepared to travel within the UK & Ireland and stay overnight for periods of time as dictated by specific projects.
  • Excellent time-management skills
  • Capable of working in the demanding environment of mission-critical business systems
