Salary: £25,000 – £40,000

Location: County Antrim

Client Summary:
Our Client is a Main Contractor who work across the Construction Sector in Northern Ireland and are seeking to recruit an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join their team on existing projects throughout Northern Ireland. The Quantity Surveyor will be based in Northern Ireland working on a range of projects throughout the province within the construction and building sector.

This company is a successful, highly established, contractor working in Northern Ireland. They supply construction and building services to the education, health, and commercial, industrial, ecclesiastical and private and social housing. Their average project value ranges from £3m – £15m and have an extensive portfolio of work throughout NI at present.

Due to continual growth the company has experienced over the last 5 years, they now require an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor with the ambition of working up into a Senior level role. This is an innovative and dynamic company with a young company structure who work out of state of the art offices in Dungannon on projects throughout Northern Ireland.

Reporting to:
This is a key role within the team and the Quantity Surveyor will report to the Commercial Director.

The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for preparation and management of the project to budget. The Quantity Surveyor will have a focus across a number of key sites throughout Northern Ireland on a project to project basis.

Job Duties:

  • Preparation of reports and technical documentation, as well as assisting with bid and tender documentation, and contractual terms.
  • Providing contractual advice to the Project Manager
  • Undertaking audits of interim payments/final accounts;
  • Conducting site measurements and preparing estimates for clients;
  • Undertake the preparation and processing of quotations, bids and tenders within Client deadlines
  • Prepare cost, value and reconciliation monthly reports on each assigned project
  • Produce breakdowns, and undertake value engineering process to meet Client budgetary requirements
  • Attend internal hand-over meetings
  • Liaise with Clients, Sub-Contractors, Suppliers to ensure information; costs, profitability and value meet the requirements of each project.
  • Cost control during design and construction stages of works;
  • Liaising with client, architect, main and sub-contractor through to agreeing of final accounts.

Essential Criteria:

  • Third level Quantity Surveying qualification or construction related discipline.
  • Must have 3+ years relevant Commercial experience working as a Quantity Surveyor specifically within construction and building projects.
  • Must be able to run a project from tender to finish with little supervision.
  • Must have technical knowledge and experience within the full remit of building and construction including private development, social housing, and leisure, education, healthcare, industrial, commercial and retail. (All subsector experience isn’t essential but would be beneficial)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Experience within a commercially hungry and driven position – must be bottom line savvy.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft packages, in particular Word, Excel and Outlook
