 Job Description

To interpret architects’ requirements on the design, fabrication, installation of building facades, skylights and fenestration via drawings and other related information.

FAÇADE ENGINEER

Location: Moira

Purpose/Objective:

To interpret architects’ requirements on the design, fabrication, installation of building facades, skylights and fenestration via drawings and other related information.

Main Duties/Activities will include:

  • Producing working drawings for MFL elements of each project and to ensure these drawings comply with the project specifications, customer requirements, current regulations and MFL structural engineering approval
  • Attending technical meetings with Main Contractor, architect, etc. to discuss the project details
  • Attending to correspondence of a technical nature relating to current projects
  • Ordering materials and producing factory-cutting instructions to meet the project programme
  • Liaising with factory and site staff for the duration of the project
  • Ensuring all drawing office procedures are carried out in accordance with the Company’s quality manual
  • Completing other duties as may be reasonably required commensurate with the jobholder’s level assigned by Senior Technical Manager or Technical Director

Supervision required:

Any deviation from standard detailing or the use of any new product or method should be discussed with Senior Technical Manager.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Working to meet MFL programme for the project sequence of work should be as per the programme. If the programme changes the Contracts Coordinator will liaise with the Design Office as to the effect the change may have on drawing production, material orders, etc.
  • Assisting estimating/sales department with the preparation of tenders when required
  • Producing drawings for sales department when required
  • Checking other Facade Engineer/Technicians work when required
  • After a period of in-house training, communicating on a technical basis with all other members of the building/design team
  • Co-operating with management regarding matters of health, safety and welfare
  • Dealing with all clients in a professional and courteous manner
  • Working within the frameworks laid down by the ISO 9001 and ISO14001 systems. Be aware of and adhere to quality documents  
  • Ensuring Health & Safety standards are maintained as specified by the Health and Safety Consultant and Internal Coordinator and the Health & Safety at Work (NI Order) 1978
  • Participating in education and training as necessary, to enable the achievement of company objectives as communicated to you
  • Working as part of a team and maintain a harmonious working environment, remaining aware of and adhering to requirements of the company culture – vision and values in all people, interactions and morale both inside and outside the company.
