 Job Description

This is an excellent opportunity for the right experience individual looking to relocate or return to the North coast of Northern Ireland whilst maintaining their developing career.

Our client is one of the leading engineering companies in it’s specialism offering a range of fabricated components and assembly products which include, a surface finishing operation by powder coating or wet spraying. They have several facilities across Northern Ireland with sustained growth plans to coincide with long term high value contracts recently acquired.

The right person will come from a mathematical/I.T background ideally managing a varying team of I.T, software and operational staff, combining to provide a detailed and client facing cost/estimating department.

Duties and responsibilities Define Cost Estimate:

-Establish quote priorities based on evaluation and analysis of overall cost effectiveness of opportunities;

-Gather proposals, specifications and related documents and liaise with stakeholders in order to convert specifications to cost estimates for new and current projects;

-Determine project scope, define cost estimates of production processes and tooling costs and review alternatives or put forward recommendations for improvement;

-Manage risks, identify contingency plan where appropriate, control changes and ensure communication with all relevant stakeholders

-Provide cost estimates during change process and advise the cost impact of changes.

Finalise Cost Estimate:

-Ensure that all expected costs have been properly prepared in conjunction with the Sales team for presentation to customer for review/approval/acceptance of the estimate;

-Maintain all files and data related to this project in compliance with GDPR.

Cost Analysis:

-Lead and develop the purchasing team to ensure best value is achieved throughout all stages of procurement;

-Track actual project costs relative to budget and report status on a regular basis to ensure costs are in line with forecasts;

-Utilise cost methodologies, tools and appropriate software models/packages to prepare and maintain reliable and accurate data;

-Monitor, review and measure data and information to detect or assess problems;

-Investigate and identify cost reduction opportunities through cost analysis review.

Reporting:

-Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures and monitor trends;

-Prepare cost and expenditure statements, reports and other necessary documentation at regular intervals to share with key stakeholders and support management decisions within the business;

-Provide documentation for each cost element, indicating sources of data, assumptions used and any other methodology or analysis.

Relationship Management:

-Work with stakeholders to ensure estimates are accurate and make appropriate adjustments to resolve issues;

-Coach, mentor, supervise and develop the team in the cost estimating function as required;

-Analyse supplier quotes and provide information and data, which aids communications with suppliers and customers and achieves cost optimisation;

-Support Financial Controller in supplier meetings and negotiations to challenge quotation prices and aim for cost reductions to meet target costs;

– Support and utilise experience to aid best practice in the purchasing, estimating and operations phases of each project in conjunction with members of the accounts, operations and business improvement teams.

-Provide general support to management and assist with overflow work from colleagues as needed;

-Participate in and attend training and departmental meetings as required;

-Maintain a positive work atmosphere by communicating and collaborating with customers, clients, co-workers, and management; -Monitor own development towards business and individual objectives.
