Looking for a job with a top SME manufacturer? Would you like to work in Lisburn and avoid the Belfast traffic? We are working with a busy manufacturer based in Lisburn, to recruit a Business Unit Manager (Department Manager) on a permanent basis. Their facilities include a world -class machining centre, and precision moulding capability to ensure a bespoke service to the clients they service.

Your new role
You’ll work on a shift basis, in a leadership role to ensure KPIs are met, deliverables, achieved and will manage and coach the Team Leads to do so. You’ll and create, implement and monitor continuous improvement projects and meet Quality, TPM and OEE targets. Responsibilities include: Ensuring the safety of staff on shift through health and safety practices

  • Meet efficiency targets through the management of manpower, machinery, resources and overtime.
  • Ensure that consistent and standard working practices are carried out throughout the entire shift to achieve production requirements and ensure optimum efficiency and quality standards are met.
  • Represent the Business Unit at Quality, Environmental, H&S, Business improvement and Customer meetings
  • Successfully identify, implement and maintain Lean manufacturing tools like Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, Standard work, Kanban, Value Stream Mapping, A3 / 8D, OEE etc.
  • Schedule production in conjunction with planning team, analyse data and report daily operational performance
  • Establish, manage and develop a Unit team that maximises potential across all shifts
  • Ensure that consistent working practices and timely training is effective throughout the Production areas which warrant a continued improvement in manufacturing performance, quality and reflected with increased motivation of your team throughout the product flow.
  • Create and assist in the design and implementation of a structured Business Improvement Plan to optimise factory performance, meet business and departmental strategy, objectives and needs

What you’ll need to succeed
I’m keen to hear from individuals with team management and project management experience in manufacturing, environment. Those individuals from FMCG, heavy volume environments would be particularly well- matched to this post. To be successful, you’ll have to demonstrate and ability to work with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally. A third level qualification in an engineering/ manufacturing related discipline
