This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively and independently. The successful candidate will work on a small and focused buying team and will report directly to the Buying/Logistics Manager.

This opportunity:

This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively and independently. The successful candidate will work on a small and focused buying team and will report directly to the Buying/Logistics Manager.

 

The role involves:

  • Placing orders that have been created by Site Managers on our System

  • Creating orders for suppliers which cannot be created by anyone else except purchasing

  • Sourcing new suppliers and developing relationships with existing supply base

  • Following up with suppliers about delivery confirmation to book in on-site

  • Keep detailed records and maintain a well organised work schedule

  • Liaise with Project Managers and Site Managers on projects progress and project priorities 

  • Speaking to suppliers regarding price lists, material quantities and back-orders

  • Ensure compliance with the health, safety and environmental requirements of materials and services

  • Prepare and maintain cost reports in order to maximise efficiency within the business

  • Filling out credit application forms

  • Matching invoices with purchase orders

  • To be able to problem solve when challenges arise such as delayed deliveries, quality issues etc.

     

Skill Requirements

  • Experience working in buying, preferably within the construction industry.

  • Working as part of a team with excellent communication skills

  • Attention to detail and ability to cope in a fast-paced working environment

  • Confident negotiation skills

  • PC literate with Microsoft office experience, particularly excel

  • Self-motivator with strong organisational skills

 

Salary will be negotiable based on your experience.
