 Job Description

You will play an integral role within the dynamic central UK Finance function, working cohesively with colleagues to provide effective finance support to the UK business, the UK Executive Committee and the UK Board.

Purpose of the role

The role holder will work within the Office of the UK Chief Financial Officer, providing effective support to the Retail UK senior management team in the areas of Planning and Management Reporting and Decision Support, Financial and Regulatory Reporting.The Senior Finance Analyst will be involved in the review, analysis and interpretation of data provided by Finance Services and various Business Partners across the BOI Group in relation to UK activities. The role holder will be required to work collaboratively with the aforementioned Business Partners and will also be responsible to addressing queries from external parties including the PRA, FCA, BOE,CBI and SSM. The role requires writing reports / preparing presentations for Board and Executive Committees.

 

Key Accountabilities:

The role holder will play an integral role within the dynamic central UK Finance function, working cohesively with colleagues to provide effective finance support to the UK business, the UK Executive Committee and the UK Board.

The role holder will have the opportunity to interact with a broad spectrum of colleagues across the Bank of Ireland Group and to work in tandem with UK Treasury and Risk teams.

Some of the key areas of focus include:

Financial reporting

  • Review and challenge of monthly financials and preparation of commentaries for the UK Board and other Committees.
  • Daily reporting to support regulatory requirements.
  • Involvement in the preparation of annual statutory accounts, Pillar 3 disclosures and fulfilment of audit requests.

Regulatory Reporting

Preparation and/or review of a full suite of PRA, FCA, and BOE regulatory returns covering areas such statistical, liquidity, capital, financial performance and credit profile.

Formulation of responses to queries and adhoc requests from regulatory bodies and ongoing proactive reaction the evolving regulatory environment

Formulation of responses to queries from regulatory bodies and other external stakeholders on review of any of the above, as well as responses to other adhoc requests issued by regulatory bodies.

Decision Support

  • Coordination andchallenge of budgets, forecasts and 5 year plans.
  • Drafting of papers for the Board and various committees to support effective decision making.

Management & Leadership

  • Capable of confidently challenging and positively influencing others.
  • Use of initiative and to take a proactive approach to achieve success.
  • Ability to cultivate effective working relations with colleagues from varying functional areas to collectively develop and deliver robust solutions for various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with UK Executives and other internal and external stakeholders.

Essential skills & experience:

  • Demonstrated Financial & Analytical skills.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of technical accounting application and financial statements.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • IT skills particularly with regard to data analysis (Excel) & presentation (Powerpoint and Word).

  • Experience of writing reports and presentations to Board / Executive level.

Essential Qualification

  • Qualified Accountant with2years post qualification experience.

Desirable qualifications, skills & experience:

  • Experience at Financial Controller / equivalent level in a commercial role.

  • Knowledge / experience of Financial Services industry including understanding of the risks associated with finance, regulatory and statutory reporting and tax compliance and the mechanisms for the identification, measurement and mitigation of these risks.

  • Business and finance experience in a finance or support role influencing and informing business decisions in a suitable commercial environment.
