Transport and Logistics Job:  Transport Planner Job:  Our client, a leading distributer based in Belfast, require a Transport Planner for their butterfly shift.  This is a permanent position with immediate interviews available.  The successful Transport Planner will display skills in forward planning, prioritisation, teamwork and working on one’s own initiative to be successful in a rapidly changing environment.

The Client:

Our global client owns one of Northern Ireland’s largest distribution centres, based in Belfast.  Employing over 7,000 staff globally, this firm recognises talent and promotes staff development and career longevity.  The successful Transport Planner will join a well established team to support day time and evening time staff supply their highly recognised customers on time, every time.

The Job:

The successful Transport Planner will work to ensure that the expectations of the customer and those of the company are met every time.  By accurate planning of driver routes, accurate booking of customer orders onto the system, achieving KPI’s and displaying legal compliance, the Transport Planner will contribute to the overall growth and development of the company.

Duties will include (but not be limited to):

  • Efficient and cost effective planning of daily deliveries allocating resources to include consolidation of trans-ship loads
  • Ensure resources are planned within legislation such as RTD, EU driving hours and maintenance agreements
  • Maintain and update driver rotas
  • Ensure Warehouse Manager and Shift Manager are informed of all inbound loads
  • Regular tracking of vehicles using in-house software
  • Keep customers and drivers informed of any potential delays, progress or any other changes
  • Preparation of next day delivery sheets
  • Accurate data input into system activity sheets from Driver Trip Sheets
  • Ensure adequate assets are available for depot operations
  • Take action to rectify any defects and ensure planned maintenance schedules are maintained
  • Accurate accrual of costs for all faults and repairs, issuing Purchase Order Numbers for same
  • Carry out any other administration duties and reasonable management requests as required.

Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum 1 years’ experience using a Transport Planning System
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience working in a Transport office environment
  • Grade B or above in both GCSE Mathematics and English
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, with particular emphasis on Microsoft Excel

Desirable Criteria:

A qualification in Transport and Logistics such as a degree, a Diploma, a GNVQ or a Driver Manager CPC

Hours of Work:  Butterfly Shift is a 12 hour shift with a flexible start time of either 6am, 7am or 8am. 

Week one: Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday

Week two: Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday


Salary: £25,000 – £30,000pa depending on experience
