Belfast Met are seeking to appoint a Temporary Mentor – College Connect Programme on a Fixed-term contract up to 4 years.

Belfast Metropolitan College is delighted to offer a range of appointments in conjunction with a new exciting project, College Connect. The project has been developed to increase skills levels amongst young people and promote economic activity in Belfast, in line with the Programme for Government. The programme has secured funding from Department for Economy and under the second call of the NI European Social Fund Programme.

The programme will address key challenges facing the city including:

  • Improving employability skills within the working age population
  • Increasing skill levels
  • Addressing barriers to employment
  • Matching people and skills to current and potential opportunities across Belfast and the wider region
  • Reducing poverty and economic inactivity in the city

The College is seeking individuals with the desire and drive to develop the College Connect programme of training. These appointments provide an exceptional opportunity to join the team at the Centre for Skills and Apprenticeships and make an invaluable contribution to the future success

What you need:


  • Hold a Level 6 qualification (degree or equivalent) in relevant discipline
  • One years’ relevant* employment experience
  • English GCSE at Grade C or above, OR Essential Skills level 2 (or higher) in Communication, or equivalent
  • Maths GCSE at Grade C or above, OR Essential Skills level 2 (or higher) in Numeracy or equivalent OR NICATS Access Maths Modules

Experience/ Knowledge/ Skills  

  • Experience of dealing with challenging behavioural issues
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the barriers to education for young people
  • Demonstrable knowledge of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.


  • The post holder will be required to travel to sites across Northern Ireland on a daily / weekly basis
