Support Worker | Holywood | Care Assistant

Position: Support Worker
Location: Holywood, Co. Down
Salary: £17,000 per annum
Vacancy Type: Permanent | 38 hrs/wk

About the Employer: Black Fox is working closely with an esteemed and long-standing employer which provides a unique approach to caring for young people and adults with physical, learning, and behavioural disabilities. It is also the only independent boarding school for children with learning disabilities in the country.

The Role: The facility is divided into various houses, all with specific residents and needs. Because of this, you would have the ability to concentrate on the needs of one house or gain valuable experience across multiple locations. These include:

  1. House 1 : Four males in their early 20s. These residents have complex needs and some have little to no verbal communicative abilities.
  2. House 2 : A varied mix of female and mal adult residents ranging from 40-50 years old. These residents can be independent in most areas but may need extra help in personal care, handling, or eating.
  3. House 3 : A varied mix of female and male adult residents from 40-50 years old. These residents can be independent in most areas but may need extra help in personal care, handling, or eating.
  4. House 4 : The support worker will assist one, young, male adult. This resident has very complex behaviours. This will require attentive 1:1 care.
  5. House 5 : A mix of female and male residents from age 19 to early 20s. These residents have very limited verbal communication. Provide 1:1 or 2:1 care.

Day to Day: As a Support Worker, you will spend your days assisting residents with various aspects of their lives. You will;

  • Engage with them for specially designed workshops
  • Support them during house meetings
  • Accompany them during daily activities such as outings, walks in the community, and family visits.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility.
  • Maintain a clean, house environment, cooking meals and facilitating a clean-up effort.
