Our Client is a SME who operates a highly successful engineering company and wish to strengthen their existing team by appointing a Senior Quality Engineer to lead their Quality operations

Hours of work:

  • Mon-Thurs – 8am to 5pm
  • Fri – 8am to 3pm

The role of Senior Quality Engineer

This is a varied and challenging role and will involve internal inspection of WIP and goods in, processing of QMS entries and liaising with management, operatives, suppliers and customers daily to ensure continued high standards of their products. Control of records, internal audits, procedures, investigation and recording of findings are central to this role.

Main Responsibilities of a Senior Quality Engineer

  • Implement, disseminate and maintain QMS documentation and document control
  • Implement effective QMS processes in conjunction with operating staff
  • Maintain QMS processes such as audits (internal and external), supplier qualification, change control, non-conforming product and corrective and preventive action systems
  • Compile, assess and monitor ongoing quality tracking metrics to help drive efficiency and continual improvement
  • Schedule and carry out routine quality control tests
  • Support internal validation activities
  • Assist in the investigation of internal and external non-conformances
  • Calibrate internal measurement equipment using master gauges periodically and record
  • Control records of calibration for all measurement equipment ensuring all are instruments are kept up-to-date
  • Purchase and control of new measurement equipment in line with Calibration procedures
  • Carry out internal inspections at all stages of WIP & Finished goods to customer Specifications
  • Training staff in new and existing quality procedures, including Induction and Corrective Action training
  • Communicating discrepancies in work methods, materials and specification so that Order Processing and Planning can make system notes and updates and customers receive satisfactory product
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding issues relating to Incoming goods inspection.
  • Liaise with customers regarding issues relating to finished goods inspection, returns, and clarification of drawings and tolerances
  • Communicate quality procedures to sub-contractors and ensure compliance to our customer specifications
  • Auditing of Quality process within Production, stores and Order Processing and admin functions
  • Recording of Non-Conformances on NC Database
  • Investigation of NC’s, returns, rejections and customer complaints
  • Gathering of data from customers, suppliers and internally to aid management in decision making relating to Quality
  • Analysis of Audit findings and reporting of such at Management Review meetings
  • Resolve Customer enquires relating to process and quality issues
  • Resolve operator issues relating to information, clarification and acceptance
  • Control returns to suppliers efficiently
  • Control customer returns through all stages of investigation, CA and review and feedback to customer
  • Monitor and report compliance to internal quality system

Essential Criteria for the role of Senior Quality Engineer

  • 3rd level qualification within an Engineering / Manufacturing environment
  • At least 2 years’ experience working in a quality control environment, including design and validation of quality control assays
  • Experience with ISO9001
  • Experience in measurement of engineering assemblies and ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, in particular the communication of QA information to non-QA audiences
  • PC-literate and excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Flexible & adaptable – With a passion and enthusiasm for quality assurance
