Proofpoint are hiring an experienced Senior NOC Manager responsible for overseeing all aspects of the NOC staff, including 2 on-site managers in a highly dynamic environment. This role will require someone with the ability to work with multiple teams in different countries.

The Role

The Senior NOC Manager oversees all aspects of the NOC staff, including two on-site managers, to enable mission essential operations that facilitate the prompt detection, resolution, escalation and reporting of production impacting incidents. The Senior NOC Manager ensures that their team is operating in accordance with established policies and procedures while maintaining a supportive and collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will be proficient with understanding and guiding the creation of NOC concepts, processes, and best practices.

The NOC interacts with all products at Proofpoint so this role will require someone with the ability to work well with multiple teams, in multiple countries, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills. In this highly dynamic environment, the NOC Manager will need to be motivated, flexible, and a self-starter with a positive attitude to face the challenges of a high energy organization.

Your day-to-day

  • Working with the Director of Operations, help sets the vision for the NOC and works within the limitations of the organization to consistently improve the quality, scope, and scale of the department.
  • Manages and coaches to the needs of a global team of NOC engineers and their managers.
  • Improves the development of career path opportunities and nurtures the development and growth of all NOC personnel.
  • Orchestrates operational incident management during production outages while communicating updates and progress across multiple teams and company executives. Spearheads our Post Mortem process.
  • Leads the onboarding of new technologies, products, and initiatives for the monitoring support of Proofpoint’s production environments including server, network, DNS, Linux and MS operating system and proprietary software issues.
  • Identifies, communicates, and implements process changes within the NOC while challenging others to develop as leaders.

What you bring to the team

  • Extensive NOC experience or similar environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, initiative and leadership abilities, as well as a moral compass that consistently points “True North”.    
  • Excellent coaching and mentorship skills for experienced managers.
  • Effective analytical, planning, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Experience working with Fortune Global 500, highly integrated, multi-vendor ecosystems with NOC to NOC communications.
  • Extensive experience with Incident Management and Post Mortem processes.
  • Experience and intimate understanding of monitoring tools (Nagios, Sensu, etc).
