Vickerstock are shortlisting for a Quantity Surveyor to join a principal contractor within Northern Ireland. Salary Range £25-£35k & Benefits, negotiable depending on experience.

Job Title: Quantity Surveyor (MTC)

Salary Range: £25,000 – £35,000 + Benefits (negotiable depending on experience)

Location: County Armagh

Client Summary:

Our client is a principal contractor within Northern Ireland working nationwide on construction and maintenance projects. Due to widespread expansion within the firm and a continual increasing portfolio of projects, they are now recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor for Measured term Contract work throughout Northern Ireland and potentially the UK.

Reporting to:
This is a key role within the team and the Quantity Surveyor will report to the Commercial Manager.

The Quantity Surveyor will provide a range of cost saving services to a range of public and private clients across the educational, housing, healthcare and commercial sectors.

Quantity Surveyor Duties:

Pre Contract

  • Take off quantities for tendering purposes, budget control and pre-agreement of accounts
  • Assist Commercial Bid Team in tender preparations
  • Estimating duties as required from time to time.

Post Contract

  • Work with the Procurement Manager in the appointment of Subcontractors and Labour Only Subcontractors on designated subcontract conditions
  • Maintain accurate records to assist in preparation of valuations and cost value reconciliation sheets
  • Undertake cost investigations as required.
  • Measurement and agreement of subcontract accounts
  • Identification, measurement and agreement of variations
  • Identification of added value opportunities within measurement and contract conditions
  • Monitoring of monthly cash flow in comparison to budgeted cash flow
  • Advice to management on contractual matters
  • Measurement and agreement of Project Final Accounts
  • Attend and give financial reports at site meetings
  • Prepare subcontractor payments accurately in accordance with CIS requirements and VAT procedures.
  • Provide Managing Surveyor with monthly cost/valuation information for costing purposes and quarterly for management accounts within the specified time scales.
  • Estimating duties as required from time to time.
  • Production of management reports as directed and required.

Quantity Surveyor Criteria:

  • Possess either a 3rd Level Degree Qualification in Surveying or demonstrate a High level of experience obtained working in a comparable role.
  • Have significant relevant Surveying experience preferably with a Construction Contracting Company.
  • Possess a detailed understanding of the PSA MTC Building and Painting Schedules.
  • Strong track record in managing and dealing with contractual issues on standard forms of contract i.e. NEC, JCT.
  • Have exceptional communicative skills coupled with strong time management.
  • Be capable of managing budgets and managing information effectively.
