Our Client is a family firm that has developed into a very commercial, driven environment over this past 30 years of trading. As a company they supply into global clients in the excavator, mining / quarry and materials handling industrys

As part of their continued growth and expansion, they are currently recruiting for a Production Planner / Scheduler to join their production team.

The successful applicant will work as part of the Sales & Operations team undertaking production planning duties to achieve sales and gross profit targets in line with the company objectives. The successful applicant must be able to predict and achieve accurate delivery dates by controlling the scheduling of products within the company and have a drive for results.

Main duties & responsibilities of the Production Planner / Scheduler

  • Scheduling / planning the production of all products in agreement with production departments to achieve the dates promised to the customer
  • Provide the central communication point for all Sales, Technical, Production, Despatch & Admin staff
  • Advising availability of products and any spare production capacity
  • Updating all involved at the weekly production planning meetings and raising any concerns which can impact production
  • Attend and contribute to other company meetings as necessary
  • Maintain estimate of the expected load scheduling for each month with the Sales Manager
  • Monitor and analyse loading trends
  • Monitoring lead times
  • Managing production loading, analysing & identifying any potential instances of overloading
  • Production forecasting
  • Managing new product introductions & samples
  • Ensuring the MRP system is kept up to date and all data is current & live

Essential Criteria for the Production Planner / Scheduler

  • 2 years previous experience in a production planning / scheduling role – A metal manufacture environment is prefered, but not essential
  • Experience of working in a high volume role with a meticulous eye for detail
  • Ability to proactively deal with and resolve any customer queries
  • Experienced in stock control & valuation
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and a SalesLogix or similar system
  • Excellent planning & organisational skills
  • Strong numeracy & literacy skills
  • Clear and confident communicator with a good standard of both written and verbal English.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Third level education
  • Knowledge of SAGE
