The Role

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the successful candidate will focus on the review and reengineering of existing parts for advanced manufacturing technologies such as laser cutting and CNC brake presses. Based at our Lurgan site their key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting a new laser implementation project
  • Laser design/reengineering for manufacturing optimisation
  • Laser and CNC programming and support
  • Communicating with, and providing technical guidance to, the operations teams in relation to new laser product and associated new processes
  • Providing engineering support with product variation
  • Collaborating with customers and the technical department in relation to part reengineering and approval, as required
  • ERP system maintenance
  • Working on improvement projects on a continuous basis
  • Contributing to roadmap projects on an ongoing basis
  • Performing time and work studies to drive product optimisation

The Applicant

Candidates must have CNC programming, and programming of lasers or plasma cutting equipment within a fast paced manufacturing environment. They must also possess the following skills and competencies:

  • A HNC level, or equivalent, in an engineering discipline
  • Previous training in software part nesting for cutting technologies, 3D solid modelling and CAD
  • Practical welding and fabrication experience
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Advanced communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • A natural ability to collaborate with team members at all levels and make quality decisions
  • The successful candidate will be adept at managing complexity, planning and aligning goals and driving results
  • Applicants who can demonstrate financial acumen and a keen business insight will have an advantage
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Solid Works is desirable
