The role:

Basic Function:

  • Provides engineering support in the design, development and operation of all manufacturing systems to continuously improve productivity and economically produce products of maximum quality.

Principal Job Duties:

  • Monitor daily production and carry out troubleshooting
  • Provide engineering support to all areas of manufacturing by:Establishing optimum Die Casting parameters and conditions
  • Implementing product design changes
  • Developing process improvements
  • Providing engineered solutions to product and process problems
  • Develop and execute programs to improve productivity
  • Review customer rejects, implement action to prevent reoccurrence and meet with the customer if necessary to resolve problems
  • Provide engineering support to Die Maintenance during die making, modification and maintenance, and maintain die drawings to ensure that engineering revisions are reflectedInitiate and develop good working relationships with internal and external customers
  • Support Sales and Quality Assurance departments as required
  • Stay abreast of technological advancesEnsure smooth SOP
  • Comply with all company health, safety, quality and environmental standards
  • Practice good housekeeping and safety procedures
  • Participate with team working, information sharing and continuous improvement programmes
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Essential Criteria:

  • Third level qualification in an engineering or technical discipline (degree, HND, HNC or equivalent)
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing engineering environment
  • IT literate, proficient in MS Office
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Good project management skills
  • Ability to work effectively on own initiative and effectively contribute within a team environment
  • Customer focus and teamwork skills

 

Desirable Criteria:

  • Knowledge of manufacturing and experience in the die casting industry
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement tools/techniques
  • Experience of CAD/CAM systems
