PLC Programmer (Siemens, Lisburn, £35,000 per annum)

We’re working with a well know FMCG manufacturer with an extraordinary history in Northern Ireland. The business operates a purpose built lean and energy efficient production facility, and their products are sold globally. Due to the restructure of the team, we are assisting the business in their search for an Automation Engineer to work on a full time permanent dayshift basis.

Your new role
Due to the restructure of the team, we are assisting the business in their search for a PLC Programmer to work on a full time permanent dayshift basis.

Duties:
* Perform software upgrades on high speed automated equipment including in-house projects.
* Assist maintenance personnel on breakdowns as and when required.
* Understanding of controls and software applications used in FMCG environment.
* Applicant needs to have a flexible approach regarding working hours as and when required.

What you’ll need to succeed
The role of Automation Engineer requires an engineer with strong proven maintenance skills from a fast-paced engineering background. You’ll have a good fault finding ability and have a broad-based understanding of controls and software applications in industry.

Essential criteria

  • experience in Siemens S7 PLCs and associated software.
  • A formal relevant technical qualification to at least HND, HNC, Degree level. Familiarity with Siemens PLC Networks including Profibus, Ethernet etc.
  • a working knowledge of SCADA and HMI working applications.
  • experience of Variable Speed Drives (VSD), including programming and fault finding.
  • Have a working knowledge of closed loop control systems, including pressure, temperature and flow control. a good understanding of the concept and terminology used in control systems which include Proportional, Derivative and Integral Control actions. (PID).
  • Have strong analytical skills supporting fast and effective problem solving.
  • Be able to demonstrate a proven ability in trouble shooting in a dynamic high speed production environment.
