The country’s leading engineering firm now have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Mechatronic Engineer to join them at their fantastic facilities in Carrickfergus

Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for

identifying, executing and managing process improvement projects (hardware + software)


You will also be tasked with assessing performance and condition of process engineering assets on an ongoing basis.

Manufacturing Mechatronic Engineer duties:


  • Estimate automation resources needed for capital projects.
  • To liaise with process specialists to review OEE.
  • To liaise with production personnel to obtain feedback on projects.
  • To provide hands on technical support for the technician team.
  • To provide on the job training/coaching as appropriate and give advice to other personnel as appropriate.
  • To assist with investigation and troubleshooting of technical problems.
  • To conduct specialist continuous improvement projects as requested.
  • To liaise with technical specialists such as machine suppliers.
  • Investigate new technologies for implementation on process equipment.
  • Maintain effective communication with Managers.
  • Keep backup of process equipment software.

Manufacturing Mechatronic Engineer Essential Criteria:


  • HNC/ HND in an Engineering Discipline
  • Considerable relevant experience in a similar role
  • Excellent electrical panel design and fault-finding capabilities
  • Good understanding of electro-pneumatic systems
  • Demonstrate experience in PLC Programming (Preferably Siemens S7 or Omron)
  • Experience in modifying/designing industrial HMI and SCADA systems
  • Good working knowledge of Robotics and robotics controls (any manufacturer)
  • Some experience with object orientated programming using VB, C++, C# or similar
  • Excellent Computer Literacy skills including software and hardware setup
  • Good written and verbal communication – Ability to collate and analyse data
