Your new company
If you’re a Sustainability and Environmental expert who would like to work with a large public sector organisation 4 days per week overseeing their statutory obligations then this could be the ideal role for you. Based in Bangor Co. Down in an office which is easily accessible via car or public transport with onsite car parking and walking distance to the town centre and the train/bus station.

Your new role
The post holder is responsible for ensuring that the organisation meets its statutory obligations with respect to Sustainable Development and Environmental Management through the mainstreaming of these functions at corporate and departmental levels. The main takes will include: Providing leadership on the Sustainable Development Function Ensure the organisation complies with its statutory duties Promote sustainable development at departmental level and advise on the development of departmental targets Be the lead person within the organisation with respect to environmental management demonstrating good practice.

To formulate, develop and maintain procedures and guidance notes for use by employees Represent the organisation on working groups, and at events and conferences. Provide training to employees on sustainability duty and Environmental Management Systems.

Apply for external funding where available to fund sustainable development projects.

What you’ll need to succeed
This is a contract position for 9 months working 4 days per week. A relevant third level qualification and up to date knowledge of the statutory obligations pertaining to sustainable development and biodiversity It would be highly beneficial but not essential to have an Environmental qualification with up to date knowledge of the statutory obligations pertaining to Environmental Health Legislation. At least 2 years’ relevant work experience related to sustainable development, formulation of policies and objective setting.

Experience of working cooperatively with a broad range of internal and external contacts and groups.

What you’ll get in return
£15.52 per hour plus paid annual leave. You will be paid weekly via bacs transfer every Friday morning.
