The Belfast Health and Social Care Trust wishes to appoint a Director of Human Resources & Organisational Development who can provide high quality, innovative human resource and organisational development services in a dynamic and changing organisation.

Within the Belfast Trust it is our aim to become one of the safest care delivery organisations in health and social care across the UK and to be recognised by all for the safety and effectiveness of our services and for the empathy with which they are delivered. It is also our ambition to improve health and well-being, reduce health and social inequalities and make a lasting difference to the lives of people by being a connected, compassionate and
caring organisation.

This is a time of significant challenge and change in Health and Social Care. We very much welcome the strategic direction provided in “Health and Wellbeing 2026 Delivering Together” and the vision therein with its shared focus on working in partnership through co-design with our service users and staff. We value our staff and place them at the centre of all we do. It is therefore important that we continually challenge ourselves to think and do things differently and create a culture that helps and supports our staff to drive change. Collective leadership is therefore central to this approach. So, whilst this is a challenging role, it is also an exciting and rewarding one where the successful candidate can make a real difference. We are therefore looking for an excellent leader, with great energy and vision, to drive forward this ambitious agenda.

Essential criteria:

You will have:

  • A university degree or relevant professional qualification and worked for at least three years in a senior management role in a major complex organisation;
  • Delivered against challenging performance management programmes for a minimum of three years meeting a full range of key targets and making significant improvements;
  • Worked with a diverse range of stakeholders for a minimum of three years both internal and external to the organisation, to achieve successful outcomes;
  • Successfully demonstrated high level people management, governance and organisational skills for a minimum of two years;
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing.
  • In addition, you will hold a full current driving licence for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment.  In respect of this point the successful applicant may be required to travel throughout Northern Ireland, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland and elsewhere.
