Excellent opportunity for a CNC Laser Operator and CNC Plasma Operator

CNC LASER OPERATOR

Maine Surface Finishing is a market leading engineering company offering a range of fabricated components and assemblies which includes a surface finishing operation by powder coating or wet spraying.  The Company has four production facilities based in Coleraine, Dunloy, Garvagh and Magherafelt.  

To join our highly skilled team you will need:

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • 2+ years of experience operating Trumpf Tru or similar CNC laser cutting machine;
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, work instructions and specifications;
  • Solid background working with sheet metal with the ability to distinguish material types including aluminium, steel, stainless steel, copper and brass;
  • Proven measurement and mathematical fraction/decimal conversion skills;
  • Experience of working hard to maintain constantly changing product flow through a busy shop floor;
  • Takes responsibility for quality, quantity and inspection of work performed;
  • Experience of working on own initiative and acting to resolve any issues impacting upon performance;
  • Ability to comprehend, read and write English fluently, and follow verbal and written instructions;
  • Good understanding of customer deliverables and the impact of failure and cost of poor quality;
  • Strong team player with the ability to communicate effectively;
  • Reliable and punctual with a positive attitude;
  • Excellent attendance record and flexible with time including evenings and Saturdays as required.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

  • Experienced with a variety of tools and equipment knowing how to effectively use the tools to get the job done quickly and safely;
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Solid Works/Solid Edge, Sigma Nest, ERP or MRP systems would be an advantage;
  • Current forklift and overhead crane licenses;
  • Completion of Manual Handling training.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience of operating CNC Plasma machinery within a fast-paced production environment where efficiency and quality is key;
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and understand how the final product should look;
  • Takes full responsibility for quality, quantity and inspection of work performed;
  • Competent at basic maths and dimensional measuring with the use of precision measurement tools;
  • Experience of working on own initiative and acting to resolve any issues impacting upon performance;
  • Good understanding of customer deliverables and the impact of failure and cost of poor quality;
  • Able to maintain accurate job tracking records;
  • Ability to work hard to maintain constantly changing product flow through a busy shop floor;
  • Ability to comprehend, read and write English fluently, and follow verbal and written instructions;
  • Strong team player with the ability to communicate effectively;
  • Excellent attendance record and flexible with time including evenings and Saturdays as required;
  • Reliable and punctual with a positive attitude;
  • Ability to be cross-trained to work across other areas to meet customer demand.

  • Previous experience with band saw, drill, brake press;
  • Experienced with a variety of tools and equipment knowing how to effectively use the tools to get the job done quickly and safely;
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Solid Works/Solid Edge, Sigma Nest, ERP or MRP systems would be an advantage;
  • Current forklift and overhead crane licenses;
  • Completion of Manual Handling training.
