 Job Description

Reed Accountancy & Finance are working closely with an organisation within the not for profit sector and have an exciting opportunity for an Accounting Technician to join their team.

The Role:

Based in the head office in South Belfast and working as part of a team of 3 staff within finance, the post holder will be primarily responsible for the maintenance of the income ledger and payments system.

More specific duties will involve:

Key Responsibilities:

Assistance with the maintenance of the income ledger

Preparation and distribution of four weekly, monthly and ad hoc invoices

Analysis of the cashbook

Preparation and posting of cashbook journals

Preparation and distribution of statements and debtors letters to be sent to customers on a monthly basis

Responding to customer queries

Monitoring debtor balances and providing management information on a monthly basis

Analyse and prepare journals for mobile phone expenditure and issue bills and expenditure reports to staff for confirmation on a monthly basis. To include assisting in the tracking and maintenance of mobile phone distribution list

Supplier maintenance: o Preparation of supplier statement reconciliations

Recording of cash and cheques received

Preparation and banking of money received

Assisting Finance Manager with internal and external audits as and when required

Preparation of small grant claims

Assist Finance Manager with preparation of larger grant claims

Ensure quality management of expenditure associated with grant claims in line with ISO system

Assist with preparation for audits and validations of grant claims

Assistance with the maintenance and control of float system

Assistance with preparation of information for the year end accounts

Assistance in the preparation of statutory returns

Ensure financial ISO procedures are being adhered to

Participate in reception cover

Undertake general administration and ad-hoc tasks at the request of the Finance Manager and Director of Finance and Corporate Services

Essential Criteria:

Candidates will hold an IATI / AAT qualification and will have a thorough technical understanding of the accounting function

Candidates will have previous experience in a similar role and ideally within the voluntary sector

Candidates will have some experience assisting with internal audit and ideally grant claims

Candidates will have excellent numerical skills, strong attention to detail, ability to think logically and will be capable of prioritising tasks, working to deadlines and will have good commercial awareness

Candidates will have previous experience of Sage Line 50 to specifically include extensive posting to the nominal ledger
