We have a fantastic opportunity for a Support Workers to work with our client in the Public Sector in Omagh. You will be working as a Support Worker within the community, for Adults who have enduring mental illness.

Job Duties

  • Assist with practical skills including : shopping, housekeeping , budget management 
  • To explore in conjunction with the service user the opportunities for social activities in the local community including education and employment
  • Promotion of relationships with wider family and community networks
  • Promote positive working relationships with the voluntary /community and statutory sectors across a range of disciplines
  • To provide assistance with personal care as appropriate including the supervision of medication
  • Supporting healthier lifestyle choices for service user’s e.g. smoking cessation and healthy eating
  • Contribute, with the identified keyworker and service user, to the development of support and care plans
  • Report on the progress of these plans including any barrier to their effectiveness
  • Adhere to best practice requirements in relation to report writing and recording of information
  • Contribute to review meetings for service users
  • Participate in training and development activities and staff meetings as required
  • Be able to work on own initiative and with minimum supervision
  • Participate in supervision and annual appraisal
  • Any other duties that may be deemed appropriate by the Registered Manager or deputy
  • At all times putting the service user at the centre of all activities and act as an agent for change and empowerment

Essential Criteria

  • NISCC Registered
  • NVQ level 2 in Care or equivalent or higher OR If no NVQ 2 years paid experience providing support to individuals with severe and enduring mental health difficulties in supported living or their own home
  • 6 months paid experience providing support to individuals with severe and enduring mental health difficulties in supported living or their own home
  • Hold a full current driving licence and access to a car


Desired Criteria

  • MAPA Training
  • Additional 1 years experience working with service users who experience enduring Mental ill health
  • Effective communication skills to meet the needs of the post in full
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary context as well as independently

  • Salary: £8.49-£14.77 per hour depending on shift
  • Full time hours, must be flexible
