Job Purpose

To undertake an apprenticeship as a mechanical engineering, leading to a nationally recognised qualification and accreditation.

This job description is not exhaustive as other duties may be required to fulfil the requirements of the role.

Responsibilities

Safe Practice & House Keeping

  • Gain hands on operational experience by assisting our engineers in the fabrication and installation of CDE projects
  • Carry out other reasonable requests made by the line manager to support departmental or company objectives
  • To work in compliance with all H&S legislation and CDE safe practice processes. 
  • To ensure the upkeep of excellent housekeeping throughout the factory.
  • To attend, when required health and safety training which your line manager deems necessary.
  • To learn and develop fitting and assembly skills including the use of hand tools and marking out.
  • Observe and comply with all good working practices.

Other

  • To adhere to CDE policy and practice. 
  • To carry out any other duties within reason and capability associated with this role.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Essential:

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a good level of secondary education with high degree of numeracy and literacy
  • Applicants must satisfy the general UCAS tariff entry requirements for the Foundation degree that includes GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above.
  • Possess and display a keen interest in engineering.
  • Available to work flexible hours and to travel as necessary.
  • Works efficiently and coherently with Safety practices and procedures.
  • Encourage and ensure effective House Keeping is kept to excellent standards throughout the factory.
  • Work with a conscious Quality mind-set when undertaking any task.
  • Must possess a positive and keen Attitude to learn.
  • Must have the ability to display initiative when working independently. 
  • Most have the ability to work well as part of a team and follow clear instructions.

Available to work flexible hours including weekends and overtime work.
