The Commercial Manager role is a wonderful opportunity for the right candidate to continue to grow and look after a successful commercial operation. You will lead a culture of ‘exceptional service, every time, for everyone’ within your team by role modelling our Service Promise. You will be involved in both the delivery and setting of the strategic direction of visitor engagement within the commercial operations.

What you’ll be doing

 

You will Lead and develop the commercial team to optimise strategic, financial, and visitor experience objectives. You will identify Commercial opportunities, challenges and solutions within existing outlets and through better exploitation of Castle Ward. You will improve the financial performance of the commercial operations, to maximise current profit and identify and grow new revenue streams. You will lead and manage a number of the National Trust’s catering, retail outlets, accommodations and events enterprises so that they are commercially successful and consistently exceed our visitors’ expectations. You will manage a large team of permanent, seasonal and voluntary commercial staff and work proactively alongside colleagues elsewhere in the property to promote our conservation work.

Who we’re looking for

 

To be successful in this role you’ll need to able to have;

  • Proven track record of leading a culture of exceptional customer service in a retail and catering environment and with good business development experience across a range of commercial areas including accommodations
  • Confidence in managing and leading teams of both volunteers and paid employees to deliver results
  • Understanding of the latest technology and innovations within the broader commercial environment
  • The ability to manage budgets and work towards a property business plan
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Significant experience of managing operational risk including how to assess and manage risk effectively
  • Leadership skills, including coaching, team development, motivation, and communication and setting strategic direction
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills
  • Good organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise effectively
