Belfast Central Mission
As one of Northern Ireland’s longest established charities, in operation since 1889, Belfast Central Mission (BCM), which is an agency of the Methodist Church in Ireland, is committed to offering a continuum of care and support services for older people and the development of services for children, young people and families across the whole community in Northern Ireland. BCM does not require any religious commitment from any of its staff or those who benefit from its services and aims to help people in need, irrespective of religious, ethnic or political affiliation.
This is arguably one of the most exciting periods within the charity’s history and the successful candidate will lead the organisation at a time where there is a clear commitment to ‘invest to grow’, exemplified in the design and development of Copelands, BCM’s flagship dementia care facility. This will add to the diverse portfolio of services that BCM provides across Northern Ireland and will set a new standard of care and delivery within the sector when opened in 2020.
Maintaining the ethos and values around which the organisation has been built – the respect for the individual; the integrity by which its people and stakeholders are managed; being person-centred, working with people empowering and enabling them to find solutions that reflect individual needs; and its continued pursuit of service excellence will be critical components to success in this Chief Executive role. This must be achieved while identifying opportunities for sustainable financial growth, further development of services and the implementation of digital technologies that will enable the workforce to become increasingly more responsive to service user needs.
To apply you will have experience of operating successfully at senior management level in a comparable, service user focused operating environment. While it is not essential that you come from a health and social care background, it is imperative that you understand the dynamics of the sector within which BCM operates and you share the passion and values of the organisation which is to offer support to vulnerable people at a time in their lives when it is most needed. Furthermore, it is essential that the Chief Executive, being responsible for the strategic direction of BCM, in partnership with the Board, accepts and understands that the work of BCM must be in sympathy with the principles and goals of the Methodist Church in Ireland.
