We are seeking to recruit a Business Development Manager for the Belfast area

We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join our well known client based in the heart of Belfast City Centre. The successful candidate will join the Sales Team with the main objective of the role to drive MICE revenue to our client’s event’s space. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for targeting new clients and to build and nurture relationships with clients that are already booking us. Our ideal candidate should be self-motivated and confident, have excellent communication and presentation skills and have a proactive approach and will not hesitate in picking up the phone to make calls.

Hours: Full Time

Salary: £25,000 per annum + 10% bonus


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Proactively selling the hotel which involves outgoing sales calls and appointments to prospective customers and existing customers to the local, national and international markets and to maximise sales opportunities
  • Building and developing relationships with key clients and agents
  • Managing some existing client relationships but primarily to find new business opportunities through weekly telesales calls (as per agreed target) within Belfast and Northern Ireland, ROI, GB as well as overseas
  • Identifying opportunities for new business through research and cold calling,  networking events etc
  • Qualified, weekly face to face client appointments and showrounds as per agreed targets to source new business and develop current business
  • Securing residential (and non-residential) group business by networking with clients and actively targeting key DMC and MICE agents with sales calls and visits
  • Prompt response to sales enquiries and sending accurate, clear and well-presented proposals and ensuring these are followed up and converted
  • Ongoing account management of any Corporate clients secured, including performance reviews and rate renegotiation
  • Conducting hotel sites visits and client entertaining as required
  • To assist with accommodation enquiries, following up in a timely manner, confirming the business and upselling our F&B offerings
  • Some travel involved in representing the hotel at various workshops and tradeshows along with own sales calls – primarily within NI, ROI and UK markets but also within the USA
  • To maintain a high level of product knowledge and awareness of in-house clients and business
  • Maintain up-to-date client records
  • Ensure effective communications with other departmental heads

 

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate must have the following experience

  • 1 year proactive sales experience in hotels / hospitality in a target driven market
  • Proven track record of successful business development
  • Self-motivated, passionate and driven about the role and the duties involved with a proactive ‘can do’ attitude, drive and ambition to succeed
  • Previous experience working with the MICE market
  • Knowledge of the local corporate market
  • Be well presented with excellent social skills
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication skills and presentation skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Work as part of a team but also independently
  • Confidence in approaching new customers
  • Proven track record of customer care on the phone and in person
  • Willingness and ability to travel to establish and maintain client relationships, mainly within Ireland and UK
  • Clean driving licence and access to own car
  • Computer literate

Desirable Criteria

  • 2-3 years’ experience with a similar client base
  • Knowledge of Protel
  • Previous experience working with the DMC’s based in Ireland
